Lights on the Lake is Wichita’s premier holiday event. In 2007 over 20,000 holiday light enthusiasts visited the Heartspring campus to gaze at the thousands of lights, dozens of colorful displays and hundreds of candy canes. A kick-off party on Saturday, November 22 will bring the campus to light for the first time this season. This one-of-a-kind event features great food, entertainment and auctions and closes with a “flip the switch” ceremonial lighting of the 40-foot-tall tree in our lake. For 21 nights between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the lit campus will be once again opened up to carloads of holiday light enthusiasts from all across the area as a drive thru sight-seeing event.
Volunteers are needed to work the drive thru taking donations and handing out programs. There are two stations, one at the 29th street entrance and one at the 32nd street exit. An armed guard is on campus to patrol while the drive thru is open. Hot chocolate, coffee and heaters are provided for warmth. Companies may work one night or volunteer for the whole weekend, inserts will be put in the program stating that the night is being staffed by your company/organization.
